On September 13, the Town of Chapin will hold a series of meetings for the Planning Commission to conduct required business.
Due to the Town of Chapin special election held the same day and in order to provide additional space than the Town Hall facility can provide, the meetings will be held at Our Lady of the Lake (195 Amicks Ferry Road, Chapin SC 29036) and will start at 5:00 pm. The Town of Chapin will hold a
Work Session for Planning Commission beginning at 5:00 pm to review a presentation provided by Armada Development for a proposed planned development called Piney Grove Pointe. This proposal includes the creation of a mixed-use development which contains a multifamily housing residential component and a commercial retail space for three properties located off of Amick’s Ferry Rd. The proposed development includes three parcels that total 13.42 acres.
During the
Planning Commission Work Session there will be no public comment period but the public is welcome to observe the proceedings. The Planning Commission will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarification on any of the submitted documents from the developers. The meeting will be limited to one hour.
Immediately following the Planning Commission Work Session, the
Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission will begin at 6:00 pm. Although there is no requirement for public comment as part of regular meetings, the Town and our commissioners value public input. In order to allow for the maximum amount of participation in the public comment period, the Town has created an additional avenue to provide electronically submitted comments to the planning commission in advance of the meeting. Comments submitted prior to Monday, September 12, at 8:30 am will be provided to and considered by the Planning Commission prior to deliberation on agenda items. Comments can be submitted electronically using the following link:
Due to the amount of business on the docket for the evening, the verbal public comment period on September 13 will be limited to one hour, with comments limited to 2 minutes per person. If you submit comments in writing, we ask that you do not sign up to speak as we are limited in the number of speakers we can fit into the allotted time. If you are unable to submit comments prior to Monday, September 12, and are unable to speak during the September 13 Regular Meeting, due to the time constraints, there will be an additional opportunity to provide comment in the future.
Immediately following the Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission a
Special Called Meeting will be held at 7:30 pm to review a separate commercial development. There will be a public comment portion during this meeting but it will be limited to the agenda items for the specific meeting. No comments on the planned development will be entertained.
As a reminder, the public is invited to make constructive comments to the Commission concerning any municipal matters contained on the advertised agenda for the date provided. No personal attacks on members of the Commission, Town Council, employees, volunteers or applicants will be entertained. The Commission is interested in hearing your feedback but commenters should not expect any response to comments submitted for this session. We appreciate the public's interest in the Chapin community and welcome community members to participate in this process.
