[ARCHIVED] Free Shred Event scheduled for Thursday morning in Chapin

The Chapin Police Department and Shred360 are providing opportunity for Chapin area residents to properly destroy personal documents in order to avoid fraud with another free Shred Event on Thursday, March 9 from 9 – 11 AM at Chapin Town Hall parking lot, located at 157 NW Columbia Avenue.

According to officer Jeff Parrott, the town and Shred360 team up three time a year to provide this free service in which individuals can bring up the three bags or boxes of personal papers, financial records and other sensitive data that might subject a risk of identity theft or fraud if just discarded in the regular trash. Shred360 handles all the shredding on site and securely recycles the destroyed documents back at their Columbia facility.

The police will also be accepting donations of canned food or money for Chapin We Care Center, which helps provide food and warmth to people in need in the greater Chapin area.  Last August, the shred event collected more than 3000 pounds of paper and 235 pounds of school supplies for Chapin area students.
