The Town of Chapin recently sent out business license renewal notices for Chapin businesses operating within its town limits. Business licenses expire on December 31 of each year. Renewals are based on the gross receipts for 2016, and are due no later than Monday, April 17, 2017, to avoid late penalty fees.
The town issued 525 business licenses in 2016, with 215 of those either new businesses or one-time licenses generated by contractors, such as construction firms, landscapers, plumbers, roofing or HVAC firms, that conduct jobs within the town limits for residents and businesses. Revenue from business licenses in 2016 was $666,411, and is placed in the town’s general operating budget to support town functions including town administration, municipal court, police, community development and zoning.
Business licenses should be prominently displayed in the business location. For outside vendors and contractors, a copy of the business license should be kept in the vehicle or on the person doing the work to be easily accessed if a code enforcement officer asks for it upon routine stops.
Businesses that received a renewal notice and no longer plan to do business in Chapin are asked to please contact the business license coordinator at email@example.com or by calling 345-2444 to prevent future follow up calls and notifications.
