Responsibilities
The Chapin Town Council is comprised of a Mayor and four Council members. All members of the Council, including the Mayor, are elected at large and serve 4-year staggered terms.
The Town of Chapin operates under the Mayor-Council form of government, with the Mayor serving as the Chief Executive Officer for the Town. Duties of the Town Council include, but are not limited to: Setting policies, approving budgets, enacting local ordinances (local law), determining tax rates, and setting water and sewer rates.
The Town Council is also responsible for appointing a Municipal Clerk, Town Administrator, Judge, and Town Attorney.
