Municipal Court

Chapin Municipal Court is part of the statewide unified court system. Lexington County Magistrate Gary Reinhart serves as the Judge for Chapin Municipal Court. Briana Eargle provides administrative services as Clerk of Court.

Municipal Court is one of limited jurisdiction, hearing only misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic cases carrying a maximum fine and sentence of $500 or 30 days in jail, and certain other cases as authorized by the South Carolina Legislature. The court has no civil jurisdiction.

No continuance will be granted unless the request is in writing. This request must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your court date.

The goal of the court is to provide a fair hearing for everyone.

Only case parties will be allowed to enter the building on designated court dates and times. If you have a court hearing and you are a minor child, only one parent or guardian may accompany you into the building.
