Chapin Town Hall

Mayor's Message

Greetings,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend time with family and enjoy a delicious meal surrounded by my loved ones. This year more than ever I am grateful to live in such a wonderful community. We came here over 32 years ago and we wouldn’t give it up for anything.

If you have traveled through the Town since last week, you might have noticed Christmas decorations have been put up around town. A special thank you to our community partners, SCE&G, for their assistance installing the lights on our poles. It is a huge help every year and we appreciate the continued support.

Our Public Works team, Anthony and John, have worked tirelessly on our decorations. As you will notice they are mismatched and many of them are on their last leg. We are so grateful to our team for working with what we had to put the Town in the holiday spirit. They have done all they can to maintenance these decorations and use them year after year.

The time has come to create a new holiday vision for 2019. We have allocated a portion of the 2019 budget to improve our holiday decorations. The cost for these decorations is substantial. In order to fulfill the vision of the type of Christmas that is representative of our beautiful community we are forming a committee. We will be looking for private contributions and business support to improve the look and feel of our Town. If you are interested in joining our “Light Up Chapin” committee please contact Nicholle Burroughs, Director of Public Affairs, at communications@chapinsc.com.

Finally, we want to welcome all our community residents and their families to attend our Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Town Hall on December 9 from 5:00-6:30 pm. We will have pictures with Santa, there will be crafts for the children and I will be reading a special Christmas story. The evening will conclude at 6:30 pm with a few carols led by the worship team at Vive Church and the lighting of our Town Hall Christmas Tree. Thank you to Palmetto Enclosures for sponsoring this event. We hope to see you all there.

Best regards,

Mayor David Knight
