Chapin Town Hall

Mayor's Message

Greetings,

If the first week of May is any indication of how the rest of the month will be, we are in for a busy month. It seemed like this week didn't stop and all for good causes.
 Mayor Knight Sinks Putt

On Tuesday our community pulled together for Midlands Gives, a 24 hour fundraising effort for participating nonprofit organizations. The Chapin community experienced an outpouring of support for all of our local charities.  I was asked to participate in the Midlands Gives Local Mayors Putting Challenge on behalf of Chapin nonprofit, We Care. I was fortunate enough to be the first one to sink my putt earning $250 towards the charity.

Following the day's activities for Midlands Gives we had a Town Council Meeting with a full agenda and a packed house. Along with new and old business for the Town, we had Patrick and Jenny Bowers give a moving presentation on the future vision for the Screaming Eagles. Their story is very inspiring and we hope to hear more in the upcoming months about the creation of fields for athletic competition and an inclusive day facility in the years to come.

During the Town Council Meeting we included two proclamations recognizing important dates for the Town.

Midlands Gives Giving Day May 1

Midlands Gives Giving Day- May 1

It was my honor to present Alecia Klauk from We Care with the proclamation recognizing May 1, 2018, as Midlands Gives Giving Day. We  urged citizens to celebrate the great work of our area nonprofits and to support their efforts in a way that is both financially meaningful and personally rewarding.

Muncipal Clerks Week

Municipal Clerks Week - May 6-12

In conjunction with the South Carolina General Assembly we declared the week of May 6-12, 2018, as Municipal Clerks Week.  We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the dedicated efforts made by Municipal Clerk Julie Hammond. Julie is an exemplary member of our staff going above and beyond to serve the Town of Chapin and the public. She is extremely deserving of this recognition and we appreciate all of her contributions.

On Thursday, members of our community gathered to recognize the National Day of Prayer.  The national event was created in 1952 by the United States Congress. The tradition continued in Chapin with a riveting event in which people of all faiths prayed for our nation and spent time in fellowship.

National Day of Prayer
As we start the weekend I wanted to remind our citizens to be safe. With an exciting weekend full of celebrations, including prom and Cinco de Mayo, I want to urge all citizens to practice safe driving and responsible decision making throughout the weekend. We want our community to be a fun place to be but it's more important that our community members return home safely.

Best Regards,

Mayor David Knight
