Chapin Town Hall

Mayor's Message

Greetings,

The Chapin Community is filled with impressive citizens and organizations working hard for the betterment of the community as a whole. This week I had the opportunity to meet with citizens that are showing all of us what can be accomplished with a little determination and effort. One of the benefits of being Mayor in such a remarkable community is witnessing these initiatives first hand. It is obvious that there is plenty to be proud of in the Chapin Community.

Eagle Scout Recognition

It was a great joy and honor of mine to be present as these two young men, Ryan Trinter and Jake Powers, received recognition for their Eagle Scout ranking. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. It is only awarded after a lengthy review process and years of hard work. Representative Chip Huggins and I appreciate both of their efforts in making this community a better place and we were honored to speak during the event.

Meeting the Mayor

Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

On Thursday afternoon, Town Hall welcomed several local children to meet with our employees and learn about the local government. The Council and I answered questions about the election process and employees answered questions about their specific departments. These bright young gentlemen seemed particularly excited about meeting with Chief Zeigler and touring the court room.

Tour of We Care

We were invited by Executive Director, Alecia Klauk, to tour the We Care facility on Friday, April 27. The tour provided an eye opening experience for us as we learned about all the capabilities and support the We Care organization provides to the surrounding community.  A particular area of interest was the outstanding partnerships that exist between We Care and other non- profits as well as the support provided by the local church community. We Care strives to meet all of their client’s needs to end the cycle of poverty and create permanent solutions.

We Care
Next week, I will be participating in the Midlands Gives Putting Challenge on May 1 in support of We Care.  I encourage all of our Chapin community members to participate in the Midlands Gives effort and support our local charities.

Best Regards,

Mayor David Knight
