We had a wonderful reception Sunday at Town Hall for the Chapin Hall of Fame induction. I wholeheartedly agree that Jack Edgerton, Hub Lindler, Heyward Shealy and Dick Weldon were deserving of this recognition, and it was great to see so many family, friends and community members come out for this special occasion. I want to thank Billy Griffin and his committee for their help getting this important event started back as well as thanks to Senator Ronnie Cromer and Representative Chip Huggins for bringing recognition from our state leadership.
This week at our Town Council meeting we will be honoring Dr. Akil Ross of Chapin High School. As you all know, Dr. Ross has been a wonderful ambassador for the Chapin community. During his tenure at CHS, the students, faculty and administration have accomplished many great achievements and accolades, national academic rankings, and state championships, to name a few. We look forward to formally recognizing Dr. Ross as the National Principal of the Year by presenting him with a Key to the Town on Wednesday evening. It’s a well-deserved honor, and I know that Akil will continue to accomplish many great things in his career. He certainly makes us all #ChapinProud!
This weekend, I had an opportunity to personally congratulate David Knight on becoming Chapin’s next mayor. I also wish Preston Baines and Al Koon much success in their new roles as members of Chapin Town Council. The team at Town Hall and I are ready to begin working with them on the transition, and we all wish nothing but the best for our town. And I want to thank Gregg White and Robbie Frick for their service to Chapin. We will have a more formal recognition of them at our December 19 Town Council meeting.
Thank you to everyone who supported our community through attending meetings and special events, providing information for us to share, acting as advocates for our town and offering their encouragement.
