Mayor's Message                                                  August 22, 2016

Vision Statement for Chapin Town Hall:

To instill the highest level of Ethics, Integrity and Excellence in all aspects of Chapin Municipal Operations.

Mission Statement for the Town of Chapin:

To improve the quality of life for residents and businesses in Chapin, SC by being outstanding stewards of taxpayer‘s money while fostering economic development and job growth.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16

We welcome Laura Culler to Town Hall as she assumes the Director of Finance and Administration Support. She has worked for the McNair Law Firm since 1995, serving most recently as the firm’s Controller. She brings a wealth of accounting and financial management experience to the town. Laura and her husband moved to Chapin 10 years ago to raise their family so she is very familiar with our community, and we are excited to have her as part of our team.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the free Shred event last week. They shredded 3,000 pounds of paper and collected 235 pounds of school supplies for Chapin We Care to give their clients. We appreciate Greg Shealy and his team at Shred360 for their ongoing support of the Chapin community.

I want to congratulate Makayla Wright on winning the South Carolina Miss Heart of the USA Fashionista pageant. She is the daughter of our Utilities Coordinator Susan Wright who is one very proud mama. Makayla will be participating in our Labor Day parade and she will compete for a national title in Florida in November. We wish her all the best!

The deadline to participate in our Citizen’s Academy is this Friday. This six-week program is designed to expose citizens to police operations and build stronger relationships between the community and the police department. Classes will begin on Wednesday, September 14 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm in the Community Room at Town Hall and meet weekly through October 19, 2016. Applications can be downloaded from the Chapin Police page on the town’s website or picked up from Chapin Town Hall.

And don’t forget the Chapin Eagle Club’s All Sports Benefit is this Saturday at 6:30 pm at Our Lady of the Lake. They will have great food and a silent auction to help support all the sports in our Chapin cluster.

Labor Day is right around the corner, and I know the staff and committee have been working hard to get everything ready. If you are a property owner in town, I encourage you to spruce up your space as we have thousands of people who will be coming to Chapin for Monday’s festivities. Let’s show them our Heart of Lake Murray with gracious hospitality and welcoming appearance. Thanks as always for your cooperation and assistance!
