Chapin Town Hall

Town of Chapin Mayor's Message

Greetings,

HELP ME! There is a warrant for my "arrest"! The American Legion Post 193, with the Chapin Women in Service organization, have created a "JAIL & BAIL" project to raise funds to build the new Legion Post Home on 5 acres recently purchased on Amick's Ferry Road. The property was recently annexed into the Town limits and we couldn't be more thrilled to have them remain in our Town permanently.
Wanted

Since 2017, Post 193 has leased the old fire station on Lexington Ave., but with over 260 veterans as members, they have outgrown the facility. The Chapin post has accomplished many charitable projects benefiting the Chapin community. It sponsored the American Legion Baseball team which won the national championship in 2015. The Legion has provided escorts for many veterans funerals including providing memorial services for unclaimed vets interred at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.

The Chapin Post deserves a new home and you can help build it. I committed to raising funds for the Legion because I believe in their mission and as a proud member it is my honor to support this worthy cause. Since they intend to "arrest" me, I am turning to the community for your help in bailing me out. I have created several ways to donate. Checks can be made payable to "American Legion Post 193" and can be sent either to Chapin Town Hall, 157 NW Columbia Ave, (just make sure to put Attn: Mayor David Knight) or to my office at PO Box 22 Chapin. I have also created a new electronic donation platform on Venmo using the screen name: David-Knight-258. All donations are tax deductible. I sincerely thank you for your kind support and keeping me out of "jail".

Donations

In regards to the pandemic, our Town Hall remains closed to the public, except for police matters, utility payments, new service applications or by appointment. We hope to reopen on April 5 if the conditions continue to improve.

Please don't forget- the annual Community Service day is set for April 3, 2021. Due to the pandemic, there will be no Mayor's Prayer Breakfast prior to service day, nor will there be any group activities. I implore our community members to act on their own and commit to doing one act of kindness for our community. Look around and find some small project to beautify our great town, such as make some repairs or mow your neighbor's yard. Send cards to those in senior living facilities or make donations to a local charity. As for me, I plan to paint some more street sign posts "Chapin Eagle Blue".

Please notify Nicholle Burroughs at Town Hall, using the email address communications@chapinsc.com, if you have any questions. Please send in a project description and take photos to be shared on the Chapin's Facebook page.

I leave you with one final thought, remember DICK HOYT. God rest his beautiful soul.

Mayor David Knight,
